In the few days since driver registrations have opened, over 40 drivers (so far) have registered to race with the Maritime Allstar Series this year; 23 with the Auto World Allstar Sportsman Series and 21 with the newly-announced Dulux Allstar Street Stocks.
Sportsman drivers hailing from Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Alberta have signaled their intent to compete this year including defending series champion Deven Smith, inaugural season winner Chris Reid, and multi-time pro stock winner Dylan Blenkhorn.
The Street Stock division has almost an even split of drivers registered from Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island – many of whom are excited to have the chance to race at Riverside International Speedway for the first time. Street Stocks have not been at the facility since it was rebuilt in 2006. Riverside will host both races for the Street Stock series inaugural season.
Three drivers – Michael Cormier, Dennis Nickerson, and Kenny MacKenzie Jr. – have registered for both series.
More drivers are expected to register for both series as the season draws closer. The first race for the Auto World Allstar Sportsman Series is May 20 at Petty International Raceway (River Glade, NB) and the first race for the Dulux Maritime Allstar Street Stocks is June 10 at Riverside International Speedway (James River, NS). The complete schedule is online at www.maritimeallstars.ca.
It’s a mix of seasoned veterans and newcomers for both divisions – sure to keep fans on the edge of their seats as the Maritime Allstar Series visits tracks throughout the Maritimes this summer.
